As Europe's largest meeting of university studios for electronic music, next_generation offers up-and-coming composers a platform to present their new musical developments.
Over four days, next_generation presents an exciting and comprehensive program featuring the latest developments in fixed media, spatial music, and live electronics. The festival thus guarantees a representative overview of the current creative output of the next generation of composers within the context of technology and art.
The festival program is complemented by the symposium "On Artistic Processes and Sonic Activism ," which focuses on current artistic, social, and technological issues. Artists, academics, and students explore the interplay between sound art, social engagement, and artistic production processes.
This year, students from numerous electronic music university studios in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland are participating. The participants will present their works in concert format. In addition, installations will be on display at various locations within the ZKM, and there will be opportunities to exchange ideas and discuss individual areas of interest through lectures and discussions.
A special highlight is the evening event "next_generation at Night" on June 19th. In a relaxed atmosphere, we invite you to bring the concert day to a close together. With a bar, drinks, and musical performances, the evening offers space for encounters, conversations, and networking.
Anyone who wants to continue partying after midnight can get discounted entry to the club night at C2Ost by presenting their festival wristband (available at the bar after the last concert on June 19th).
